FEC invitedMr. Hsieh Chang-ting, Representative of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan, to an Executive Luncheon Meeting at Imperial Hotel Tokyo on October 20. Representative Hsieh is an important person who knows Japan well, having served as head of the Democratic Progressive Party and Premier of Taiwan. In May, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen appointed him as the representative to Japan from the standpoint of Japan’s importance.Representative Hsieh made a remark and said,” There is no official diplomatic relationship between Japan and Taiwan, however we have an old history of economic and cultural exchanges at private level. I would like to talk today for the further development of our friendship.” At the meeting, attendees discussed about tourism and local exchanges between Japan and Taiwan. They agreed on the importance of youth exchanges to connect current friendly relations to the future. They also discussed the importance of cooperation between Japanese and Taiwanese companies in trade and investment globally.
