“The 60th ASEAN Study Meeting” was held on the topic of “Current Situation of Indonesia and Future Prospects of Indonesia-Japan Relations”.

Upon opening, Mr. Norio Yamaguchi, Chairman of FEC Japan-ASEAN Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, Chairman of the Board of AJINOMOTO Co., Inc. said in his greeting remark that “I will appreciate your warm welcome and support to the FEC delegation of next week. Indonesia is one of the most important countries for Japan and there are close ties between the two countries. I am happy to hear that 86 nurses and care workers from Indonesia passed the exam for certification in Japan.”

Indonesia has recorded a strong domestic demand-led economic growth under the stable political situation, and investment of Japanese companies is growing again.

H. E. Mr. Muhammad Lutfi, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, talked about the strengths of Indonesia, the economic trends and the relations with Japan. After that, we exchanged views on weak yen, the nuclear power plant problem, the labor market condition and the relation with the United States.
