FEC invited H.E. Dr. Reza Nazarahari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran for an Executive Luncheon Meeting at the Hotel New Otani Tokyo on October 30. In June 2013, moderate cleric Hassan Rouhani was elected president of Iran. He declared striving for improved relations with the international society, and attracts attention of the world. Actually, he has realized a telephone conversation with President Barack Obama of the United States after 35 years. He is also trying to improve the relations between Iran and the West. The policy of Iran to the stalling situation of Syria will be  also paid attention.

Mr. Hiroshi Saito,Chairman of FEC Japan-Middle East Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee(Honorary Advisor of Mizuho Financial Group, Inc)made a following opening remarks. “There are many uneasy occurrences in the Middle East. I think it is bright for the world that cleric Rouhani was elected President. Today’s attendents are keen to listen to Ambassador Nazarahari about the update situation of Iran and Middle East area.”

Ambassador Nazarahari talked frankly on domestic and foreign policy of the President and Iran’s relations with Japan. After the speech, there were active Q&As and discussions including how to cope with Syria, financial settlement issue and female labor participation.
