FEC invited H. E. Ms. Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India, to an Executive Luncheon Meeting at the Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo on November 24. The meeting was held on the theme of “My impressions of Japan and future prospects of India-Japan relationship”. Since Ambassador Wadhwa is scheduled to return to India in December, the meeting was also held as a farewell party for her.

Mr. Kenichi Watanabe, Chairman of FEC Japan-India Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee, Senior Advisor to the Board, Nomura Holdings, INC. said in his welcome speech, ” Since the ambassador assumed the current post in 2012, leaders of both countries visited each other every year. In 2013 the Emperor visited India for the first time in fifty three years. In the field of economic cooperation, the number of Japanese companies in India was around 900 in 2012 and increased about 40% since then. Ambassador Wadhwa seemed to have spent very busy three years for various activities including cultural exchanges in many parts of Japan. The distance between Japan and India becomes closer by the efforts of the ambassador. On this occasion I would like to thank Ambassador Wadhwa for her deep understanding and support for FEC. Even after your returning home, we expect you would continue to contribute for the development of India and Indian people, and further enhancement of our bilateral relations.”

Ambassador Wadhwa made a speech, focusing on various topics including the impressions of her stay in Japan and the future prospects of Japan and India. In closing the meeting, FEC President Matsuzawa handed Ambassador Wadhwa a gift of Edo Kiriko glasses with the engraved names of Mr. and Mrs.Wadhwa.
