Message

Executive Director Ogata visited Ambassador Maria Terezinha da Silva Viegas of the Democratic Republic of East Timor to Japan. After graduating from the Semarang Agricultural Academy in Indonesia, Ambassador Viegas began her political career as a member of the National Council of the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET) and played a significant role in the country's independence movement. She has held key positions in successive administrations, including member of the Constituent Assembly, Undersecretary of the Parliamentary Secretariat, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, and Vice Speaker, and also served as chairperson of the East Timor-Japan Friendship Parliamentary League. She assumed the position of Ambassador to Japan in 2025 and holds that position to this day.
