On January 19, the Trade and Investment Section of the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Japan held the opening ceremony for "Coconuts of the Philippines: Tree of Life, Seeds of Innovation" at Tokyo Midtown Design Hub. Executive Director Toshiya Ogata and others from the FEC attended the event. This event was held as a flagship exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Philippines.
At the outset, Philippine Ambassador to Japan Milene Garcia-Albano stated, "In the Philippines, the coconut is known as the 'tree of life,' and nothing goes to waste, from its roots and leaves to its husk, shell, water, and oil. This exhibition, which focuses on coconuts, embodies the principles of a circular economy that promotes harmony with nature and contributes to inclusive prosperity."
The venue featured dioramas of art and architecture, as well as craftworks, and also showcased applications such as advanced medical treatment and conversion technology for aviation fuel (SAF).
