On July 28, the Federation for the Promotion of Civil Diplomacy (FEC) hosted a welcome dinner at Hotel New Otani Tokyo for Do Van Chien, member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, who was visiting Japan. In addition to Political Bureau member Chien, ten people from the Vietnamese side attended the dinner, including Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu and Deputy Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee Pham Van Lap. Ten people from the FEC side attended, including FEC Chairman Kenichi Watanabe and FEC Director General Ken Matsuzawa.
