Mr. Sota Ohara
I majored in international politics at university, and I was looking for an internship where I could put that knowledge to practical use. That's when my grandfather told me about FEC, and I became interested.
My initial expectations, mainly regarding the lectures, were that they be held not only online but also in person as much as possible, giving me the opportunity to speak directly with people who have had diverse experiences in the field.
I felt it was a very valuable experience to have the opportunity to speak with people with impressive backgrounds, whom the average university student would rarely have the chance to meet. I think it's a great benefit to be able to hear from experts in countries and regions that are currently attracting attention, about the background and the actual situation on the ground, which you can't get from just the news.
What I found most helpful was that when I spoke about my experience at your company and the people I met there during my job search, most interviewers showed great interest and actively asked questions. Thanks to that, I feel I was able to leave a strong impression on the interviewers.
I believe that in order to gain a deeper understanding of international affairs, it is necessary to study various elements such as politics, economics, and soft power in an interdisciplinary manner. In the lecture, instead of focusing on one field, the speaker covered all of these broadly, which I feel has greatly enhanced my understanding.
I believe the unique aspect of our lectures is that, because the number of participants is relatively small, it allows for two-way communication with the speakers.
Furthermore, after lectures and forums at embassies, there's a kind of social atmosphere, and I think having that kind of free time is an advantage compared to other organizations.
Participating as a student was a truly invaluable experience. Regardless of whether you're majoring in international politics or not, I would recommend participating if you have even the slightest interest in international affairs.
Through FEC, I was able to have two-way communication with people I wouldn't normally have the chance to meet. I highly recommend that everyone, whether students or working professionals, attend a lecture at least once.
