FEC's Fundamental Philosophy

The 6 Core Values of FEC's Fundamental Philosophy

FEC advocates 6 core values in today's social environment as our activity philosophy.

1 In Pursuit of World Peace and Prosperity

"We shall secure for ourselves and our prosperity the fruits of peaceful cooperation with all nations and the blessings of liberty throughout this land", says the Constitution of Japan which advocates globalization and peace. For the sake of peace and prosperity all over the world which are the ideals of the Japanese Constitution, we hope to expand the international exchange circles in various ways.
These activities are very significant as well as important in order to open ways to the 21st century and make futures based on the spirit of Japanese Constitution.

2 Corresponding to the Global Age

The importance of international relations has not been regarded as significant as today. The earth has become smaller both in time and space due to the developments of transportation, communication and information technology, and one problem in a region immediately casts big influence to the world. The human relationship which used to be limited in the rural communities is now being expanded into global size. This tendency will strengthen if not weaken. Here we can observe the importance of corresponding to the globalization. We are now members of our global society.

3 Promotion of the Nation-Level Diplomacy

For corresponding to the globalization, FEC hope to promote "National Diplomacy"(Humanication). Though the range of human contacts and the ties among human lives are turning into global size, the one who manages them is individual country, and the national borders still exist.
We strongly hope to promote civilians' voluntary and hearty exchanges across the borders. In order to achieve this goal, efforts to pay respect and understand each other are necessary.
National diplomacy (humanication) is the most suitable means of international exchanges in the 21st century.

4 The Viewpoint to Asian Nations

Japan learned a lot from the cultures of Asian continent from the long past. However, after the Meiji Restoration we turned to the Western cultures. This trend still existed after the World War II, and with the development of Japan's economic influence, the neighboring countries are criticizing Japan and are being so concerned. On the other hand, we must never forget that Japan suffered great loss and destruction while Asia-Pacific region being the battlefield of between Japan and the Allies. From now on, as a member of Asia we must re-consider the European-focus style and focus much more on the Asian nations.

5 Paying Respect to Japanese Diplomatic Policies

Diplomacy is the negotiations between Governments with national powers in behind, and "national diplomacy" is the people-to-people level interchanges which don't stick to the formalities. In the latter case we pay our highest respect to the diplomatic policies of Japanese Government, and make it our principle to behave as Japanese citizens. However, history teaches us that people exchanges came earlier than the actual diplomacy. In this context public "national diplomacy" always goes ahead of the governmental diplomacy, and thus it enables us to contribute to the peace and prosperity of the global society.

6 Regional Development Starts from Globalization

The blueprint of a nation's land making always contain globalization, the necessity of internationalization is loudly cried in the local governments, and measures such as making cooperative ties foreign cities are promoted. This is the age where not only a country but also local governments, companies and other institutions pay attention to international relations and enhance mutual exchanges.
Making cities open to the world and highly-internationalized regions, or economic and cultural exchanges, are of course to think from global perspective many common international problems. The regional globalization starts from the upsurge of each citizen's minds, which is the most important and necessary.
