FEC's History

1992
March The 6th ASEAN Friendship Meeting is held in Hamamatsu,Shizuoka Prefecture under the joint-sponsorship of FEC and AIS.
(An economic symposium, a friendship reception, and a panel exhibition on ASEAN tourism and culture are held. Total 2,000 people participated in the meeting.)
May The second mission to Europe, led by FEC Chairman, Mr.Hirahara Tsuyoshi, is sent to investigate economic situation in EC and Central European countries.(The mission consisted of economic leaders including Vice-President of Chubu Electric Power CO., Inc., Mr.Ito Yoshihiro, as sub-leader of the missin and Chairman of the Daisan Bank, Ltd., Mr.Miura Michiyoshi.)
1993
June The FEC forum on Education, is held in Nagoya inviting Japanese Minister of Education, Culture and Science as a keynote speaker. (Total 1,000 people participate.)
October FEC Program on Africa is held as a part of a series of events to support Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). (A delegation of 21 Cabinet Ministers from 9 African nations visited Hamamatsu to participate in a panel discussion and other FEC organized programs including visit to local industrial estates.)
October A program for the management of Russian state enterprises is organized and oonducted. The program inclures Iectures on Japanese economic system, corporte structures, and government-industry relationship and site visits to Japanese corporations and administrative organs.
October A delegation to Eorope, led by a former Japanese administrative viceminister for Environment Agency, is sent to participate in a conference on environmnet and cooperation held in Prague.
1994
August 61 Children form other Asian countries ars invited to participate in World Festival Expo'94 held in lse City, Mie Prefecture.(FEC coordinates exchange programs including home-staying and site visits for Asian children.)
October Indonesian Cultural Evening is held in Nagoya inviting Minister for Investment of Indonesian.
1995
March An economic mission is sent to VietNam,HongKong, and China to inspect present economic situation in the area.
July Symposium on Asia (for deeper understanding among Asian Industries) is held in Gifu and Nagoya inviting Mrs.Corazon C. Aquino, the former Philippine President.
1996
September Japan-France Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee is established, and Mr.Yoshiharu Fukuhara, the president and Chief Exective Officer of Shiseido CO.,Ltd. is selected as a representative.
November The extraordinary meeting of FEC board of directors is held and Mr.Ikeura Kisaburo, the Counselor of The Industrial Bank of Japan is elected as the 3rd Chairmen of FEC.
November The chairman and members of Japan-France Cultural and Economic Exchange Committee participate in a reception held by French President Chirac.
1997
April FEC signs an agreement for Japan-France interchanges with Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
July Former Prime Minister of the Great Britain H.E. Lady Margaret Thatcher attends FEC's welcome dinner in Tokyo, and exchanges views on international cooperation with FEC executives.
1998
January 9th ASEAN Forum and Reception is organized in Tokyo inviting 10 ASEAN ambassadors under joint auspices of AIS.
November Japan-France Committee of FEC sends 2nd economic mission to Europe, led by Mr. Kurosawa Yoh, Chairman of the Industrial Bank of Japan.
1999
February Japan-India Committee of FEC sends 2nd economic mission to India, led by Mr. Ishimaru Tsuneo, Chairman of Denso Corporation.
April Mr. Kurosawa Yoh, chairman of the Industrial Bank of Japan, assumes 4th Chairman of FEC.
2001
June The board of directors meeting and the general meeting are held at a hotel in Tokyo and Mr.Chihiro Kanagawa, President and CEO of Shin-Etsu Chemical CO., Ltd., is elected as the fifth Chairman of FEC.
